Carla's Table at Noiich.

Carla's Table at Noiich.

As you may know by now, a long-held dream came true last December, when I had the opportunity to hold my first exhibition in Seoul, in collaboration with the local brand and design studio Noiich, and the wonderful team from the creative agency JINA ERIKA.

When the proposal came through, I could hardly believe it - just a few days earlier, I had written some goals in my journal: a press trip to Asia, my first art expo, visiting South Korea… and suddenly it all came true at once. I am still pinching myself to think that my paper and paintbrushes would take me to the other side of the globe.

We worked hand in hand to create a collection of ten artworks, printed and set into custom wooden frames designed by the Noiich team - thirty copies in total - which were featured in their space in the city. Alongside them were other objects: small wooden sculptures by my father, postcard collections of all the artworks (available for purchase in situ), and pieces from the Noiich collection:

A silver tray holding Earl Grey chocolates, a wine rester, and their beautiful rugs - one of which is now on my wishlist for my future Mallorquín home, matching the navy blue on my paintings.

I created this collection exclusively for the occasion: a series of still-life works in ink and pencil on cotton paper. While very much in line with my usual creative style, the pieces were also inspired by the beautiful wood of the frames, the character of the space, and my long-awaited trip to Seoul - a city I have dreamed of visiting for years.

I am deeply inspired by its design and scenery, and by the quiet beauty of everyday objects: vases, flowers, and fruit. I love observing these small moments and appreciating them in stillness.

For the first time, I included deep yellow and green tones combined with wood, inspired by the winter season and the warmth and ambience of these days.

The event itself was magical, and it felt like a dream to watch the ‘sold’ dot stickers being placed beneath the paintings. I met so many inspiring and kind locals, and I am still digesting the overwhelming warmth and support.

The collection sold out within the week. I cannot thank everyone enough for coming to see it and for purchasing art - of course, we had to celebrate with some Korean barbecue and soju!

In case you missed your chance, I highly recommend visiting Noiich’s own artwork collection with the same framing, as well as all the Nicieza Studios originals created for this collaboration, now available here.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart - more beautiful projects are coming soon.
